Hello all,
Dave here, and I will be in charge of the mother's day blog. See, I am going to make sure that Khim doesn't do anything today. Well, we started off the day, (Owen and I) by getting mommy doughnuts, and coffee for breakfast. We woke her from her much needed slumber to tell her about our big surprise. She stumbled into the kitchen, where she read her card and began to munch on a glazed doughnut before realizing that she only had a few minutes to get ready for church. I proceeded to get Owen dressed and then myself. Somewhere in the midst of the getting ready, Owen got a hold of a stamp with red ink and ...well.. face, hands, clothes, everywhere!
We rushed to church extremely late, but I was sure to get myself a cup of coffee, I never leave the house without my coffee. Once at church things began to settle, all things except Owen. Khim offered to take him out into the foyer, but I shushed her and wouldn't let her say another word. I was determined to make this the most carefree day for her. She looked a little frustrated, but I'm sure that had nothing to do with me.
So, for lunch. I planned to barbecue chicken, grill some corn, and make baked beans. That sounded so yummy to me. I think Khim mentioned having something else in mind, but I knew she'd love it. I'm the grill master. Speaking of grills, I have the most awesome grill, it was a birthday gift from Khim. Oh, Khim.... so as I was trying to cook and watch Owen, the chicken caught fire! I was able to salvage it though. I presented my lovely bride with her plate, and she commented on how wonderful everything looked. As she sliced into her chicken, I noticed a concerned look on her face. "Dave, the chicken's ...uhm bleeding still."
What! Not done! I am the grill master and will not be defeated by a lowly piece of chicken. I remedied the situation by nuking that bad boy in the microwave, then we sat down to a nice meal. By that time it was late in the afternoon, and I was exhausted, technically it had been a day right? So I left Khim to take care of a couple dirty diapers etc. I mean there is only so much I can do.... Owen is a "mama's boy".
OK, so other than almost infecting my wife with salmonella, I think it was a very successful 1st mother's day. Who knows, next year I might even ask her what she wants to do.
P.S. this wasn't really written by Dave. ;) I love you Dave, you worked real hard. Thank you

ha ha ha!!!! Sounds like a memorable mother's day! You are a great writer! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDelete...you loved every minute of it! Ya-Ya
ReplyDeleteLMBO! I seriously was gonna leave a comment that Dave has yours and Owen's humor...but then saw you had written it.
ReplyDeletePoor Dave. He tried! That's more than a lot of women could say about their men. I have a friend who has two kids and her husband still has never changed a dirty diaper! AH!
That's funny! I was reading it thinking, "man, they sure do talk alike." LOL.
