Hi all,
I haven't been blogging for a little while, I have had a test every other day it seems at school, and Dave and I moved to Belton, so that I could be closer to school.
For those of you who don't know, Belton is.... mmm a small town type setting, population of 15,000. Pretty much it's the same as it was when they built it back in the day. Very "Friday Night Lights" type of place.
Where to begin? First we borrowed a truck and trailer from a friend. (Dave was being cheap and didn't want to pay for a U-Haul.) So we get on the road Friday night heading back to our old house to load up some things, when a car drives by us with the driver frantically waving and pointing at the back of the truck. I just figured he was pissed because the trailer was drifting into his lane, but he looked more concerned than mad. So we pull over at the rest and Dave gets out to check the truck. A tire on the trailer has blown, and I mean it looks like rubber spaghetti on a hubcap. No big deal, there's a spare, 2 and 1/2 hours later. The spare's lug nuts are off by a 1/4 of an inch. So we brave it and ride home without the tire and plan on getting it fixed the following day.
Next day, Dave's "help" doesn't show up, and I spend the first hour of my morning trying to convince Dave that he cannot move our gigantic couch by himself. Can we say bull headed, after about the third scrape from the concrete I finally convinced him. Yeesh. God knows I love that man, but he cannot follow a plan to save his life. We'd get in the car and I'd think we were going one place and I end up at Wal-Mart for an hour while he debates about getting the tire fixed there or taking it back to Belton.
I could go on venting, but basically it was the most frustrating move I've ever experienced, we just kept trying to calm each other, and prevent the frustration form completely taking over.
Needless to say, we finally got everything moved in at about 4:30 am on Monday. Now I just have to put up with a crusty old 70's house with pink tile bathrooms and old house smell. I am thankful we found a place though, that's close to campus, and the rent is super cheap, and the dogs have a nice backyard to run around in.
Next time we move (which better be to Georgia) we're hiring professionals.

hahaha! Sorry - I feel your pain in regards to moving. Although, I tend to "lose my mind" and walk around aimlessly during my moves. Its like I don't seem to care about anything or know what to do next - NOT my personality.
ReplyDeleteWow - Belton. Night/day difference from Austin. You need to post pics of your home! I have a friend from Harding that is from Belton (her blog is on my blog list April (McCarty) Nelson). I think her fam is still there but she is in Houston. Anyways - glad to have you back on blogger and looking forward to more posts with pictures (hint, hint) ;o).
