Now I have on occasion been accused of exaggerating. False accusations of course, so I will refrain from telling you that my nephew, amazing athlete that he is, in my opinion is capable of hunting down NFL greats like, Adrien Peterson and Reggie Bush with one leg. That would be bragging, even though I am a firm believer that simply stating the truth is not bragging.
Owen, and I had the privilege of watching my nephew play football on Friday. It's always exciting, and he never disappoints. However, my nephew fell victim to a common sport injury, a torn ACL. It was heartbreaking to see, and we were all anxious for the final verdict. What can I say that every news sports anchor, and local sports writer hasn't already said about this kid? He had just caught a game turning interception right before the injury. Although it appeared he had supernatural powers when he effortlessly leaped 10 feet in the air to snatch the opposing team's ball, I was abruptly reminded that my nephew was indeed human.
This is not to be a sad tale however, injuries are temporary and seeing as how he is in excellent shape I know he'll be out there next season, and I'll be unflinching as I tell someone how he received the Heisman as a senior in high-school. This hiatus just gives me time to create more elaborate stories of his greatness.
So dear nephew, from your little biggest fan, and his mom, speedy recovery!
