Coming Home

Originally, I was going to be discharged on Thursday morning. David, Owen, and I were going to head home and start our little family. If you have been following the blog, and/or know me, you know that it is very common for things to stray from the plan. Late Wednesday afternoon, I developed a fever of 102+ . So the doctor on call checked on me, order an IV of antibiotics, and gave me the news that I would not be going home the next day.

Boo! Here I am patting myself on the back for being super woman, and busting through labor in such a short amount of time, and then I get a stinking fever. I went back to my shivering and prayed I would be fever free for 24 hrs once they started the antibiotics. No such luck, my fever would gradually go down during the day and then shoot back up right before bedtime. I was starting to get a little frustrated, and tired of hospital gowns and hospital food. Not to mention there was no explanation for my fever.

Finally, on Friday I had managed to keep a normal temperature and was told I could leave the following morning. Yeah!!!!

Saturday morning, David and I were up bright and early and began gathering all our goodies, and getting Owen ready for his trip home. The doctor came through and gave me my discharge instructions, and the three of us were off and on our way.

My baby brother holding Owen. (Notice he didn't bother pulling the blanket down so you could see the kid's face)

We had a quiet ride home. (I totally forgot to get a picture of them wheeling me out to the car.) When we got to the house we were greeted by my Mom and Dad, my sister and her daughter, and my baby brother. There was food cooking, my Mom was doing laundry, and my niece was eager to do anything and everything that involved helping with the baby. Dave and I were so happy to have them here. (If you've read more than one of my blogs, you know I absolutely love my family, and love spending time with them)

My niece helping out with the barbecue. Thanks for all your help!

Oh, I almost forgot about the dogs. They came home from the doggy hotel the following day, and other than being over stimulated by a full house of people they were good. Zheke didn't even really pay any attention to Owen at all, he was too infatuated with my niece. Zhoe gave him a quick sniff and went on her way.
I love this picture, my Dad, Zhoe, and Zheke chillaxin' on the couch.

Ahh, there is no place like home!

I also love how little O holds his arms above his head while he sleeps. DARLING.
